Exploring History Through Imagination: KS1 Trip to Lewes Castle

At M7 Education, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. That’s why we were thrilled to fund a recent trip for the Key Stage 1 pupils at Queens Park Primary School to the historic Lewes Castle. This visit provided the young students with a unique opportunity to step back in time, sparking their imaginations and deepening their understanding of history.

The day was packed with excitement and discovery as the children explored the ancient grounds of Lewes Castle. The trip was designed not only to teach the students about history but also to engage them in hands-on learning experiences that would leave a lasting impact. From climbing the castle's spiral staircases to enjoying panoramic views from the top, the children were fully immersed in the experience.

One of the highlights of the trip was the interactive role-playing task, where the students got to step into the shoes of historical characters. This activity allowed them to bring history to life through drama, combining education with creative expression. As one student excitedly shared, "The whole trip was really fun for me because it combined two of my favourite things—drama and history. I loved the role-playing task."

The children’s reactions to the trip were priceless, each expressing their own unique excitement:

- "I didn't think castles were real!" - Adrian
- "I felt like I was in a princess story." - Zoe
- "I loved seeing the battlements and the portcullis in real life." - Mohammed
- "I loved the castle trip, it was the best day of my life." - Zakaria
- "I loved the castle, but I loved seeing the Brighton and Hove football stadium on the way in the coach more!" - Youcef

Comments like these highlight the importance of making learning dynamic and engaging. By funding trips like these, M7 Education aims to inspire young minds.

We are incredibly proud to support experiences that not only enhance students’ understanding of subjects like history but also boost their confidence and creativity. Trips like the one to Lewes Castle are more than just a day out—they are a chance for students to develop a lifelong love of learning.

At M7 Education, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of students by providing opportunities that enrich their educational journey. We look forward to continuing to support schools like Queens Park Primary in creating memorable and impactful learning experiences.
