Bringing Smiles to Progress School: A Memorable Trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Recently, we had the privilege of sponsoring Progress School's excursion to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and the joy and excitement that emanated from the students were palpable.
Under the leadership of Headteacher Phillipa, the trip unfolded as a remarkable journey of exploration and newfound adventures. Phillipa shared her insights, stating, "Initially some were a bit nervous having never been to such a large theme park and never having traveled out of Carlisle before. Despite this, it was well attended and did not take long for the students to participate fully on the rides and to lose all their inhibitions and to just have innocent fun. The smiles on their faces said it all."
"As staff, we were amazed at how the event raised their morale, supported their social skills, and raised confidence. It allowed for students and staff to bond, where it was appreciated that the students could see the staff, not just as their teachers but as ‘normal’ people in a social setting," added Phillipa, highlighting the transformative impact the trip had on both students and staff alike.
Throughout the day, teachers observed the profound effects of the outing on the students, witnessing firsthand the blossoming of newfound confidence and camaraderie. "I think the highlight for the teachers was when one of our quieter and less confident students hugged us all and exclaimed ‘This has been the best day ever’. I wish you could have been with us to be able to see what a trip like this achieved, it was nothing short of incredible," remarked Phillipa, reflecting on the heartwarming moments that made the trip truly special.
